Welcome to my Blog. Whether I’m photographing animals, plants, landscapes, still life, interiors, vehicles or architecture I’m absorbed by the subject, which in my opinion is vital to getting good images.
February 2008
Recently I completed a National Diploma in Photography and Multimedia with Triple Distinctions, this was an invaluable learning curve for me. I like to think I am a versatile photographer who is capable of photographing many different subjects but at the same time not straying too far from the ones I am most passionate about. From my lifelong enthusiasm for both the natural world and motoring I have developed an understanding of how to represent these subjects visually. I hope this shows through in my images but as with any craft you constantly learn more and develop your style. I try to keep my images clean and simple, therefore making them more striking. I see myself as a perfectionist so I am never entirely satisfied with everything, but then that is a great driving force to improve upon previous efforts.
I have a City & Guilds in Environmental Conservation (Distinction) which has been of great use in my wildlife and nature photography. Having background information on your field of photography is the only way of producing original and creative images that mean something to people. I love photography and all that it involves which is why I wish that feeling to be visible in my images. Only you can say if it is or isn’t.
From October 2007 and throughout 2008 I will be engaged intermittently on a photography commission for the Duke and Duchess of Westminster to travel to all of their rural estates in Britain and on the Continent. This is a fantastic opportunity for me at the start of my career, a great confidence booster and one which will hold me in good stead for the future.
